1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of Better Atlantis Desktop, the Better Atlantis website and related Better Atlantis server services (together, “Better Atlantis”). The service is operated by Ruben Roy (“we”, “us” or “our”).
By installing, accessing or using Better Atlantis after being given a reasonable opportunity to read these Terms, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Better Atlantis.
If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian. By using Better Atlantis, you confirm that you have the legal capacity, or any permission required under applicable law, to use the service.
2. What Better Atlantis is
Better Atlantis is an independent interface for timetable information made available to an authorised user through Atlantis Education. It is not a school information system, not the official source of your school timetable, and not an emergency or safety service.
Better Atlantis is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, or otherwise officially connected with Atlantis Education, Google, Apple or your school.
3. Your school and third-party accounts
You may use Better Atlantis only with Google, Atlantis and school accounts that you are authorised to use. You remain responsible for complying with the terms, policies and access rules of your school and the third-party services you use.
Better Atlantis does not grant you any additional right to access Atlantis, Google, school systems or another person’s timetable. If your school or a service provider removes or changes your access, Better Atlantis may stop working.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use Better Atlantis to:
- access, attempt to access or expose another person’s account, timetable or private information without authorisation;
- bypass authentication, access controls, rate limits, security measures or licensing restrictions;
- interfere with or overload Better Atlantis, Atlantis, Google, a school network or another service;
- use automated requests in a way that is abusive, excessive or contrary to the rules of a third-party service;
- introduce malware, exploit vulnerabilities, impersonate another person, or use the service for unlawful activity;
- distribute a modified build in a way that falsely represents it as an official Better Atlantis release or implies endorsement by us.
5. Software licence
Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use Better Atlantis Desktop on devices you control for its intended timetable purpose. This licence does not transfer ownership of Better Atlantis branding, software or site content.
Any third-party or open-source components remain subject to their own licences. Atlantis, Google, Apple, school names and other third-party marks remain the property of their respective owners.
6. Your custom information
Custom class cards, colours and similar personalisation are created and stored locally on your device. You are responsible for the information you enter. Do not use custom fields to store passwords, login links or sensitive information.
7. Updates and changes
Better Atlantis may check for app updates and may offer new versions. We may change features where reasonably necessary for compatibility, security, reliability or product development. A third-party change, such as an Atlantis API, authentication or timetable change, may require Better Atlantis to change quickly or may temporarily break functionality.
The retired browser extensions and bookmarklet are frozen legacy products and are not promised compatibility fixes or continued availability.
8. Availability and timetable accuracy
We aim to provide a reliable interface, but Better Atlantis depends on data and services supplied by Atlantis, Google, your school, internet providers and your device. We do not control those systems.
Better Atlantis may display stale, delayed, incomplete or incorrect information if a third-party service, local cache, network connection or school dataset is incorrect or unavailable. For important attendance, exam, room, cancellation or school instructions, verify the information with your school or the official service when appropriate.
9. Feedback
If you submit feedback or a feature suggestion, you give us permission to read it and use the ideas in it to maintain or improve Better Atlantis. You keep ownership of any rights you already have in the material you submit. Do not include information you are not authorised to share.
10. Privacy
Our handling of information is described in the Better Atlantis Privacy Policy. During normal sign-in and timetable operation, timetable, mailbox and authentication content is not sent to the Better Atlantis server. Optional telemetry is opt-in.
11. Suspension and ending use
You can stop using Better Atlantis at any time. We may restrict access to Better Atlantis-operated services if reasonably necessary to protect security, comply with law, respond to abuse, or protect Better Atlantis or other users. Where practical, we will avoid disrupting legitimate use unnecessarily.
12. Consumer rights and responsibility
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss caused solely by a third-party service failure, unauthorised account use, user misuse, inaccurate third-party data, or events outside our reasonable control. This paragraph does not exclude responsibility that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Better Atlantis changes. The current version will be posted on this page with its last-updated date. If a change is material, we may also provide notice in the app. Changes apply from the stated effective date; they do not retrospectively remove rights that have already accrued.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in New South Wales, Australia, subject to any mandatory law that applies to you and cannot be displaced by agreement.
